Il \u00e9tait environ 3 heures du matin lorsqu\u2019une Toyota Corolla neuve, en provenance du Port de Cotonou, est entr\u00e9e en collision frontale avec un mini-camion charg\u00e9 de fruits. Selon plusieurs t\u00e9moins pr\u00e9sents sur les lieux, le conducteur de la berline aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 victime d\u2019une forte fatigue apr\u00e8s de longues heures de conduite, ce qui l\u2019aurait amen\u00e9 \u00e0 perdre momentan\u00e9ment le contr\u00f4le de son v\u00e9hicule, lequel a quitt\u00e9 sa trajectoire avant de percuter de plein fouet le camion qui montait lentement une pente en sens inverse. Le choc a \u00e9t\u00e9 si violent que la voiture s\u2019est compl\u00e8tement \u00e9cras\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019avant, laissant son conducteur coinc\u00e9 dans l\u2019habitacle pendant plusieurs minutes avant l\u2019arriv\u00e9e des secours. Gri\u00e8vement bless\u00e9, il a finalement \u00e9t\u00e9 extrait du v\u00e9hicule et \u00e9vacu\u00e9 en urgence vers un centre hospitalier pour des soins intensifs. Le chauffeur du mini-camion s\u2019en est sorti avec des blessures l\u00e9g\u00e8res et a re\u00e7u les premiers soins sur place.
